How do I become a member?
You can apply to become a member if you breed seahorses to the CAPTIVE  BRED standards. There is no restrictive rules for those that are not members of Seahorse.org - every captive breeder is welcome to join the network. The only thing that concerns us is that the prospective breeder has a provable track record of raising captive bred seahorse fry to adult.

Captive bred means just that. That the seahorse fry were BRED in captivity. Capturing wild seahorses that are already pregnant and raising their fry results in TANK RAISED seahorses, and these should not be offered for sale as captive bred.

Data will be gathered by this site: This data will include the number of fry born, the regularity and timing of broods, and the survival rate of various methods of raising the fry. This data will be cleansed of any information that could be traced to a specific breeder, and offered to the members of the SBN for their own research. This is a condition of becoming a member.

There are no fees, dues or other monetary requirements for joining the network. This is not a profit making exercise, and the SBN will be subsidised 100% by Seahorse.org
